Chuck says goodbye with a two-hour finale on Friday

Chuck Season 5

TISSUES AT THE READY, GEEKS! You heard me. Chuck is hanging up his spy-boots (if indeed spies do have regulation boots) this Friday with a two-hour special that promises to be a tear-jerker.

Goodbye to the Buy More. Goodbye to Big Mike, Morgan, Casey, Sarah, and all those guys. Goodbye to Castle and to Beckman. Oh God, I can’t take it anymore…. *runs sobbing from the room*

Anyway, in recognition of the last ever episode of Chuck, Zachary Levi, Joshua Gomez and Yvonna Strahovsky have recorded a series of video interviews where they talk about their characters’ journeys over the past few years. Zac talks about how the cast and crew have become like a family to him over the last five years, but he takes a moment to acknowledge the contribution of the fans to the success of the show:

I’m hard pressed to think of a show – at least since I’ve been alive – that’s had a more integrated fan experience. I know I speak for everyone in our cast and crew when I say that we wouldn’t exist without them. That I only have a job because of the love and support they offer us every year.

Did you see Zachary getting a lil’ emotional at the end of that video? Are you crying yet, readers?

Joshua Gomez (aka Morgan) reminisces fondly about his first day on the set of Chuck and the infectuous energy that director/producer McG brought to the show. Like Levi, Josh also takes time out to talk about the fans’ contribution to the show. In case you’re only a casual Chuck viewer, the show was saved from cancellation by fans protesting in one of the most successful campaigns in television history. NBC reconsidered. Subway – who’d been instrumental in the campaign – came on as a sponsor, and Big Mike was seen tucking into footlongs for the rest of the series.

Yvonne Strahovsky – speaking in her natural Aussie accent(!) – talks about Sarah’s last stand: losing her memory and being back to square one. She’s also not skimping on the stunt work – her final episode will involve some light skydiving (sounds like a subtle homage to McG’s Charlie’s Angels) and stealing a Ducatti:

So, for the incredibly forgetful among you – the last ever episode of Chuck airs this Friday on NBC. Make sure you tune in and give your favourite goofball spies a proper goodbye!
